Japanese Fan Art

‘Fan art” as in I am a big fan of many things Japanese.

I am an outsider looking wistfully in at a culture rich in handmade excellence, folklore and so many things kawaii.

Boro, kokeshi, koi and maneki neko are just some of what I’m drawn to as I learn about bits and pieces of this culture I’m fascinated with.

This series was originally designed to be ongoing. Each piece was created on 6 inch by 6 inch cradle board. It could be displayed as a single piece or as part of a grid. Strong enough to stand alone but able to harmonize with the group.
